Ego Ideal

In psychoanalytic theory, the part of the superego representing internalized standards of perfection and idealized goals that individuals strive to achieve. The ego ideal motivates behavior through aspirational standards rather than prohibitive rules.
Example: A person's drive to become an excellent teacher, motivated by idealized images of inspiring educators and personal values about making a positive difference.
