In Maslow's hierarchy, the fourth level of human needs involving the desire for respect, recognition, achievement, and positive self-regard from oneself and others. These needs become motivating factors once lower-level physiological, safety, and love needs are satisfied.
Example: Seeking professional recognition through awards and promotions, or developing competence and mastery in valued skills to enhance self-respect and confidence.
