Explicit Memory

Conscious, intentional recollection of previous experiences or learned information, including both episodic memory (personal events) and semantic memory (general knowledge). This type of memory requires effortful retrieval and awareness of remembering.
Example: Deliberately recalling what you had for breakfast this morning, or consciously retrieving information about the capital of France when asked directly.
