Exposure Therapy

A behavioral treatment involving systematic, controlled contact with feared stimuli to reduce anxiety and avoidance through habituation and extinction of conditioned fear responses. This evidence-based approach is highly effective for anxiety disorders and phobias.
Example: Gradually exposing someone with social anxiety to increasingly challenging social situations, starting with brief interactions and building to public speaking engagements.
