fMRI BOLD Signal

The blood oxygenation level-dependent response measured in functional magnetic resonance imaging that indicates neural activity by detecting changes in blood flow and oxygenation.
Example: Increased BOLD signal in the visual cortex when participants view pictures, or in motor areas when they imagine moving their hands, providing indirect measures of brain activity.
