A psychological phenomenon where desire for harmony and conformity in groups leads to irrational or dysfunctional decision-making, with suppression of dissent and failure to critically analyze alternatives.
Example: Corporate boards making poor decisions because members avoid disagreeing with leaders, fail to consider outside perspectives, and maintain illusions of unanimity despite warning signs.
