Reduced awareness or understanding of one's own mental health condition, symptoms, or need for treatment, often seen in psychotic disorders and severe depression.
Example: Individuals with schizophrenia not recognizing that their hallucinations aren't real, or severely depressed people not understanding that their hopelessness is a symptom rather than reality.
