Intrusive Memory

Involuntary recollection of traumatic or distressing events that enters consciousness spontaneously, often vivid and emotionally intense, commonly seen in PTSD and trauma-related disorders.
Example: Sudden, unwanted flashbacks to car accidents, combat experiences, or abuse that feel as if they're happening in the present moment, causing distress and disrupting daily activities.
